Summer Recap

I almost don’t want to say it out loud so that it won’t come true. But both of my kids went back to school this week so there’s no denying that summer is nearing its end. I love the fall, but I want summer to stay forever! We had so much fun this summer and were able see lots of family and friends near and far. You may have already gotten into a glimpse into some of our adventures if you saw my post on best Lisbon restaurants.

But summer is long, so we got to do and see a lot while we were traveling for fun and for work. My kids rode their first roller coasters this summer! They loved it – though my younger one was too short for one of them, and my older one thought once was enough on the big one. I admit, it was kind of intense. We also had several travel adventures – sprinting through airports to make flights due to weather delays, forgetting to set an early morning alarm and somehow still making our flight (truly, a miraculous feat when you consider we woke up 1 hour before our flight departure and had to get 2 young kids out the door…), even radar control issues leading to a cancelled vacation.

One of our summer highlights was boating in New England and fishing lobster pots directly out of the ocean. That was an amazing dinner (so amazing that I couldn’t bring myself to stop the lobster eating fun to take pictures). My 4-year-old tried to eat his weight in lobster tails that night. Glad I wasn’t sitting next to him since he couldn’t crack the tails open himself.

We also did a lot of swimming and playing in the water. What were some of your summer highlights?

I’m glad there are some warm weeks still ahead. Labor Day weekend is just around the corner, and we hope to cram some more fun summer things into that long weekend. Can’t wait!
