Thinking about a last-minute family ski trip for Spring Break? These are some of the best ski resorts for families.
We love to go skiing as a family and have skied a number of resorts in the U.S. Many resorts have so much snow this year that they’re extending the season so it’s not too late to get out there!
Below are some of our favorite ski resorts. I think each of these ski resorts deserves a full write-up so this post will give you just the top line notes of why we like them. We’ve skied most of these mountains many times over the years.
Best ski resorts for families
- Alta, Utah: skiers only mountain, great ski school and terrain, easy drive from Salt Lake City airport
- Big Sky Resort, Montana: great ski school, massive terrain, some lifts are heated and covered (it can be extremely cold here)
- Brighton, Utah: easy drive from Salt Lake City airport, half-day ski school option
- Powder Mountain, Utah: daily ticket cap, no lift lines, massive terrain, lots of easier terrain for beginners
- Snowbird, Utah: fantastic and steep terrain, best for kids who are intermediate and advanced skiers/snowboarders, easy drive from Salt Lake City airport
- Telluride Ski Resort, Colorado: amazing town and mountain village, stunning scenery, terrain for all ability levels
This list is by no means a comprehensive list, there are many other ski resorts for families. But if you’re thinking about spring skiing, these are the ones I would consider. We’ve skied other mountains that are not on my short list for a last-minute trip since you’ll also need to factor in the timing and weather for Spring Break. Double check the snow reports and closing dates to make sure they work for your kids’ break. If you want to stay on the east coast, I’d look at Jay Peak, Vermont.
